Sammy Hagar is an unreal frontman. He hits every note perfectly in Poundcake, not an easy song to pull off.

Michael Anthony doesn't miss a pulse. He is a great bassist.

All 4 guys were on point...those drums pounding, bass growling, Eddie doing his magic and Sammy hitting every note. That's true rock n roll energy!

This is live folks. Incredible from every angle, Sammy's vocals, Mikey killing every note, Alex record perfect, and Eddie being Eddie. What a time.

This was the pinnacle of Van Halen...the tone Eddie had and the harmony from the vocals was epic.

The wall of sound put they put up with just one guitar, bass and drums is incredible. MIchael Anthony’s bass effectively serves as a rhythm guitar while anchoring the beat. Most bands don’t come close even with a second guitarist.

Wow!!..That solo of Eddie's has got everything from tapping to singing the blues ..he squeezes out every last drop & his use of that power drill is absolute perfection sound and timming wise.. in places his instrumenal sounds like a caged up animal screaming to get out.. "So beautifully done"..Wow!! jaw dropping!!!..& so melodic..

I painted one of those poundcake drills. It is a makita 6012hd. I love Van Halen especially this era!

My god..I love that guitar solo bit when he casually uses the electric drill in perfect laid back eddie timing..seems so effortless. I've never seen such natural talent and creativity! He had so much joy in playing. And that colossal guitar sound!!!
I don't care what anyone says but he was the greatest!

It is unbelievable how easily would this song fell apart without Mike Anthony providing that solid 16th note groove. Yeah it is just few notes but played extremely well.

After q quarter of a century, Poundcake still kicks major ass. Holy Fuck. And still the two best back-to-back songs all-time on CD are Poundcake and Judgement Day. Sammy is unreal. Always liked him better than DLR, but....the band, no matter, is awesome. I'm 62 - and still love this stuff! Goosebumps when I listened to Live Poundcake and Judgement Day.

RIP Eddie Van Halen!

Van Hagar was my first and only concert. I saw For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge in Milwaukee with Alice in Chains as the headline. I learned I'm too short for concerts. I was all pumped up to see Eddie Van Halen play Poundcake with a power tool. When everyone stood up, my view of the stage was completely blocked. By the time I found a better view of the stage, Poundcake was done.
