Selfish driver causes collision for not zipper merging

Please be patient and merge alternately.

EVERYBODY should practice alternate/zipper merging. If you aren't doing it, you're definitely contributing to the traffic jam. You'll cause accidents too for nudging other cars. I'm a victim of someone being selfish, because she doesn't want to zipper merge.

Moving on, I'm glad she paid up already for the PDR cost. Case closed.

Although zipper merge is best, it is rarely mandatory. The ending lane is literally merging into the open thru lane. The thru lane does not merge. Usually the law is obligated to side against the merging driver in an accident or citation, even though the DOT and Highway Dept. promote the zipper as shared co-operation, the actual merge and liability are still one sided.

The white window van had no right to push itself into the travel lane. The entering traffic has no priority over the main stream of traffic. I didn't see the legally required turn signal for the maneuver either. If I was a cop seeing the other vehicle being cut off it would mean an automatic ticket, possibly two.
