I do prefer the strainer when pouring into a (fairness) pour cup especially when drinking alone so nothing keeps steeping

I read powdered tea comes from the way the Chinese used to consume it when it gained popularity in the Tang dynasty. So the Japanese tea ceremony is the underdeveloped way, taken from the Chinese. So 陆羽 the Sage of Tea, who wrote 茶经 revolutionized the state of the art aimed for the taste, establishing the bases for our current 茶道 of 功夫茶

Also the exchange of leaf tea to Japan lead to senchado which then in turn came back and inspired gongfu cha. Tea has been part of a cultural exchange and part of the spread of Buddhism for it's entire history in Asia. In the west it became a tool of conquest and colonialism.

The chinese started drinking powdered tea, also slightly more ceremonial then now, at the same time it was brought over to japan. Then the mongols invaded china and they switched back, while japan repelled the mongols and further evolved it into the intricate tea ceremony. Origin: the book of tea by kakuzo. No idea id thats teue, but the ceremonial aspect is a lot influenced by taoism

Cha dao doesn't mean tea ceremony and gongfu cha as a practice started in the 18th century, not a 100 years ago

Classic China motto…don’t innovate, just take from better cultures and make it your own!
