My first supercar was also an r8 v10. Coming from a 16 yo Honda into an r8 was a life changing experience, the joy, the performance, the sound and the timeless design. My first German as well. In fact, after 9 years with numerous porsches Ferraris and lambos, I can never replicate that joy and rush. Perhaps I am older or got used to supercars, but the r8 will always be special. I finally sold it after 8 years and passed the torch to allow someone else to change their lives . it’s amazing that r8 price stayed low even after 17 years, it’s the ambassador car to get the young generation into supercars, or any fun car in general. The accessible factor cannot be overlooked, that any guy with a decent credit or income can afford a car so special, is a blessing from Car Jesus himself

R8 Love!!! 💙 As a Gen 1 gated V10 owner, I can absolutely relate to your sentiments. I'm never going to sell mine. Especially when EVs will rule the roads in the next decade. The Gen 1 possesses just enough analog(manual gearbox, hydraulic steering, manual handbrake, and an atmospheric high revving engine) yet blends some of the modern technology and a timeless exterior design to make up a perfect drivers car. Yes, its far from perfect but its my perfect. A car I've dreamt about owning until I finally was able to buy one. Great video, Paul. Its all about smiles per gallon. That's what us petrol heads live for!

I’m an r8 v8 owner who’s been without the car for a year for work being done (yep, a year!!). Don’t go into one without your eyes open to costs and issues but when they’re right, the v8 is so right. The v10 makes it try to be something it’s not (a supercar). Go into it expecting an every day sports car and suddenly the muted but practical and comfortable interior doesn’t need to scream “supercar” and it doesn’t have to tear your face off with outright pace. It’s plenty quick enough, the perfect blend of usability and performance for uk roads and inherently feels ‘right’. Just watch out for pot holes and remember it’s an old car. thanks for the vid, get mine back tomorrow and it’s made me very excited to do so.

Had my 08' V8 manual for for 7 years now.... Amazing car. Only mod was exhaust which made it all the better. Thinking about some Ohlins now.

The R8 came out in 2007, I was 10yo. I've loved them and wanted one ever since. I've been through a few of my JDM dream cars but one day I'd love to go German and a manual V8 would definitely be high on that list for me, maybe even at the top. Your V8 R8 in blue with the armytrix exhaust only made me love and want one even more!

This was an excellent video... I''ve currently narrowed my search to a 2011 V10 Auto (with stage one upgrade and custom exhaust) and 2014 V8 Manual. I found the V8 a bit sluggish and am leaning towards the V10 performance. Also, I love the engine bay of the V10. So my vote leans towards the bigger engine.

I think the best car I ever driven is the r8 v8 manual transmission. I also even though it’s completely different than the r8 love to drive the mk2 vr6 Audi tt .

This car kick started your journey i was an early subscriber from seeing you go viral 'watford student buys audi r8 with cash made from youtube clips' in the metro paper. A time when it became evident that working with brands and youtube was actually in its own form a full time job and a way of making a living. What a ride its been. Its a special moment. Great video 👍 and I read an article some time ago that Audi made a few R8 2006 models especially for the 24 hour race at the Le Mans and that those cars were the beginning of the R8 era. A bit like how the Ford GT 40 started.
