Today, I am closing out my February budget and showing the entire process! We follow a zero-based budget, and it's an important step to track your spending and reflect on the previous month in order to make sure you are creating a sustainable and realistic budget. If you aren't sure what you're actually spending every month, it's very hard to create a good budget. Today, we are going over my real numbers so you can see my exact steps on how I reflect on a month of spending using my budget reconciliation spreadsheet.

We have a Menards credit card (I think you have Menards in Wisconsin)? They have a credit card with 2% back and you can use it at Kwik’s trips and Menards so we put all our gas on it and then use the 2% back to use on remodel of our home! Works out great!

Great close out. Feb was rough for me as well. I had Covid in September and thankfully the kids didn’t get it. Grocery prices are ridiculous and we have to adjust it regularly due to the cost of food Seeing you list Canva’s annual fee, I think I’m going to switch to yearly cause it’s much cheaper. Enjoy your vacation. Great video❤

Would definitely love a video on wisely using the CC’s. My husband and I just became debt free and we just finished saving our emergency fund (!!!) and have transitioned now into saving for land & a house down payment. We know we need to keep our scores high … just really nervous about adding them back into the mix 🥴

Grocery prices are tough. We dropped a bunch of things from what we buy to keep our monthly grocery budget like cereal. I think that many people have had budget hits because of all the sicknesses this winter. I think that emergency food or food plan is something that everyone needs to work on. Like if one parent is down then we are having spaghetti, frozen chili, hot dogs and hamburgers with Mac and cheese, chicken wraps with frozen premade chicken, frozen lasagna or taquitos or a quick store bought or homemade thing from the freezer and take out pizza. I think it is so tough when mom is down but a week of a plan is amazing because I know my husband and he can’t come up with what is for dinner but he can certainly make a meal happen if it is written down for him which I can’t do if I am sick but I can plan ahead.Great that you stayed under your income. That grocery bill and take out bill would have killed our budget but you are right that some months are just about making it through in the positive numbers.

When my kids had Covid August 2021 my husband or I never got it. I have a home daycare so I would test myself every other day even if no symptoms and was negative . I had daycare kids get Covid and the husband and I didn’t get it we were lucky. I’m so glad your feeling better what a rough month. ❤❤❤

glad you guys are feeling better. i think $1, 000 a month on groceries for a family of 5 is not bad at all, especially with how expensive they are right now. that would be $250 a week.🥰

Love that you are so transparent with us! Feb. was a rough month for us, we needed new tires, a new washer and dryer, and then we came home to a ceiling light dangling from the ceiling. Thank goodness for the emergency fund!

My apologies if this is intrusive but does a family member watch your youngest ? I noticed you don’t have to pay for their child care thank goodness!

We pay our credit cards at least 2 times a month sometimes 3 depending on balances ! We had horrible credit but have not paid any interest on cc’s in 6 years now BUT and I love the rewards ! So some things go on card with savings on bank ! Especially gas / vacations and we do travel ! BUT only since we got our poop together with DR glenda
