My native tongue is Portuguese and we Portuguese speakers have a peculiar way to be grateful to people. We say "obrigado/obrigada". That means that, when someone does us a favor, we feel 'obliged' to him/her. That sounds unique among languages. By the way, the Japanese word for thanking (arigato) is said to derive from the Portuguese "obrigado".

I'm a native English speaker, but I was co-raised in Italian. In Italy, they say "grazie, " which means 'graces' and is the equivalent to just thanks, and "grazie mille, " meaning 'a thousand graces' and is the equivalent to thank you very much. We also say "grazie tante" (many graces, many thanks) and "grazie infinite" (infinite graces, infinite thanks). Even though I speak English fluently, I find your videos interesting. Love from New York!

You both have taught me to be careful with my expressions. I am a native U.S. English speaker, but from the comments, I have learned much. In the U.S., one can never be 'too appreciative or grateful'...but it can be considered a bit rude in other cultures!
