Messi might have forgot to bring his finishing boots but he still had his magic boots on 🪄✨ 🇦🇷🐐

When Messi doesn’t have a scoring masterclass, he has a playmaking masterclass! GOAT things🐐🪄

5:22 As an argentinean this was a big issue for me. It was clearly evident by the lack of singing, drums and trumpets that most people with an argentinean tshirt were in fact, not argentinean at all, and just USA tourists.

I mean, I don't have absolutely anything against people just wanting to see an elite player before he retires even though they're not big fans of the team, I would've done the same If I had a chance to see Michael Jordan play live, even though I haven't watched a single bulls game in my life.

But, when the audience it's mostly "tourists", it kind of ruins the atmosphere of a true football game, which is counter productive also, because those tourists will have less interest in the sport as a whole, since they don't have "the energy" of a true match.

I was sad for Messi. He used to mow down defenders in a row and make them look like fools and finally even score the goal. This was one on one.... I am sad that he is getting older. But the consolation is that pass. So simple, yet elegant and small... His footballing mind is still intact and thats enough.

Scoring only goals doesn't make you GOAT but what magic you produce on pitch makes you magician, a genius

Canda´s tactic with the high pressure was a good one, but they didnt execute it well, at times Argentina struggled to come out playing from their field but then Argentina could have scored at least 4 goals from long passes behind Canada´s defense. This could have easily ended 6-0 or if Im being generous 6-2, the 2-0 makes it look closer than it really is, and this is exactly what happened in the World Cup, watch those Argentina games again where they won 2-0, 2-1 and in reality those were games that could have easily ended with 3 or 4 more goals in favor of Argentina, they create a LOT of chances but also they miss a lot of those chances incredibly in situations where its normally a goal.

@espn fc how come no one is talking about Argentina on why didn’t get fined for coming out to the pitch past the regular time ? Isn’t that being disrespectful to the opponent, the game, and fans? RULES are RULES, it should be applied to everybody. And if it was Canada, do you think they would had been treated the same as the ref treated the CANADIAN TEAM

Personally that kick to Alvarez early in the game to his hand and wrist. I think affected his play. Ya it’s a part you don’t use for football but if you’re in pain and you need to try and focus. It gets difficult to play aggressive at times. I saw that. Alvarez is great. I like him. But hopefully he gets some more starts and grow into the game more. Happy that he scored. Good confidence booster.

They looked brilliant. Can’t believe Messi and Di Maria - they both still have pace. The quality they have is always going to be there but they don’t seem to be slowing down - amazing.

The "controversy" of this game wasn't the playing surface, which was the same for both teams, it was Argentina taking 5--7 minutes to come out late to start the 2nd half so that they could spend more time analyzing the video to work out a plan to how to counteract what Canada was doing against them, which even Messi admitted wasn't what they were used to or expecting. And Argentina still needed some further help from the Refs for not calling blatant fouls committed by their players on the edge of their own box. Please do better next time ESPN

That Saudi Arabia offside trap/high press was very very good, basically perfect

Good point from Jaime re: the crowd. Went to see Inter Miami when they visited Tokyo and was not prepared for the weird atmosphere around Messi. Admittedly it was a friendly but I’ve never been to a match before where all anyone cared about was just saying that they’ve seen one certain player. Feels a bit strange, as a real soccer fan. Stadium full of people cosplaying as Argentina fans. You don’t get that kinda thing at the Euros.

What? every Argentina was happy, beautiful football plays, those guy didnt watch the match!!!! Argentina controlled the game. Canada had a few good moments and played with courage, but Argentina dominated, successful one-touch passes, transitions. Canada in the second half played to press and thought that Argentina would be passive, to Canada surprise Argentina pressed also well and way effective. Argentina only had 10 minutes in the entire game where Canada attacked from Acuña side that complicated Argentina's creation just for 10 minutes, but Argentina were a bulldozer. amazing, everybody so connected. Btw Even Canada complained, the ball so difficult to bounce.

No team is going to roll over and die because of a bigger team. They come to compete.

This one could have ended in a 5-2 but it ended up being 2-0
Fun game, bad pitch, and big misses.
Canada's problem is scoring, that is nothing new. But their offside trap also needs work.

What does Garnacho need to do to get some minutes in this team?
