The character of Kami's voice matches Joni's so closely it's uncanny. I mean, slightly different timbre, slightly different vibrato but her cadence and pitch is spot on. Kami basically nails it.

Gotta admit this is one of the best covers...no one can sing this song like Joni back in 1970...but this is so so good. Who doesn't just love Joni Mitchell over 80 years old now ....

She does Joni justice. Very impressive.

You made me cry. A 67 year old man. You sound so much like a younger Joni Mitchell. Love this. Thanks.

Mindblowing amount of talent on that couch...

This is phenomenal. Girl’s got crazy good chops, without being yet another breathy, mid Atlantic accented hipster chanteuse. Well done the both of you!

A very brave thing to do - cover a Joni song - and you guys performed brilliantly! Wonderful job!!! This is coming from a 66-year-old Joni fan since Court and Spark. Excellent!

Anyone who can sing Joni has my respect. This is great! As a dulcimer player, I am impressed by your ability on the instrument.

I spent twenty-five plus years playing saxophone for a living before turning to "settle down" as a commercial advertising photographer, marry a school teacher and raise two daughters. I turned 65 a few days ago and life has slowed a bit, though a lifetime as a six-hour sleeper of no particular schedule still often sees me running down something of interest into the wee hours. This evening now finds me, iPad in lap and discovering this channel so full of life and love and music; so very much music, it makes my heart sing. I've long been a Joni fan and had such a crush on her in my youth and beyond that I must of seen her in concert more than a dozen times. Perusing Josh's channel for a couple hours now and discovering these two playing this music so beautifully has truly restored my faith in knowing there are young musicians that understand the breadth and depth of the musical heritage they are now responsible for keeping alive. "Oh, I'm a mean ol' daddy but I like you... I like you I like you I like you..." And how could I not now feel a bit of a crush on Kami too. Cheers and "Carey" on...

I am so impressed. Joni's melodies require incredibly smooth switching between vocal registers and Kami Maltz is the only person to have achieved this with Joni's fluidity and soul. Incredible. Josh, your guitar playing and vocals are equally impressive. This series of the two of you doing Joni's music is a real favourite. Thank you.

Kami, you have my husband and I in tears. Never heard anyone able to sing Joni. You are amazing. Will listen to this often! Thank you!

The wind is in from Africa
Last night I couldn't sleep
Oh, you know it sure is hard to leave here Carey
But it's really not my home
My fingernails are filthy
I've got beach tar on my feet
And I miss my clean white linen and my fancy French cologne

Oh Carey get out your cane (Carey get out your cane)
And I'll put on some silver (I'll put on some silver)
Oh you're a mean old Daddy, but I like you fine

Come on down to the Mermaid Cafe
And I will buy you a bottle of wine
And we'll laugh and toast to nothing and
Smash our empty glasses down
Let's have a round for these freaks and these soldiers
A round for these friends of mine
Let's have another round for the bright red devil, who
Keeps me in this tourist town

Come on Carey get out your cane (Carey get out your cane)
And I'll put on some silver (I'll put on some silver)
Oh you're a mean old Daddy, but I like you
I like you,  I like you, I like you

Maybe I'll go to Amsterdam
Or maybe I'll go to Rome
And rent me a grand piano and put some flowers 'round my room
But let's not talk about fare-thee-wells now
The night is a starry dome
And they're playin' that scratchy rock and roll
Beneath the Matalla Moon

Come on Carey get out your cane (Carey get out your cane)
And I'll put on some silver (I'll put on some silver)
You're a mean old Daddy, but I like you

The wind is in from Africa
Last night I couldn't sleep
Oh, you know it sure is hard to leave here,  but it's
Really not my home
Maybe it's been too long a time since I was
Scramblin' down in the street
Now they got me used to that clean white linen and that
Fancy French cologne

Oh Carey, get out your cane (Carey get out your cane)
I'll put on my finest silver (I'll put on some silver)
We'll go to the Mermaid Cafe,  have fun tonight
I said, oh, you're a mean old Daddy, but you're out of sight
