Moons Beyond the Solar System

Показать описание
Most of the planets in the Solar System have moons. We have discovered almost 200 in our Solar System alone, and so we expect that the Milky Way is teeming with moons- perhaps more moons than planets and stars. With this many, it greatly increases the number of worlds in the galaxy which could support life- and so we are keen to find them. However, they are so distant and dark that detecting extrasolar moons, or "exomoons", is a tremendous challenge.

Just imagine coming across something as weird a massive super Earth type of planet with a gas dwarf.

I’ve learned more about space by watching this channel than I did in School... or the Discovery channel for that matter.

These videos are catnip for me. Truth to power I replay most of your space bids when I'm drawing.

Thanks for these, man...

Yavin 4, the home of the rebel base in Star Wars: A New Hope (1977), was moon orbiting a gas giant, a red one.
I dont know what the scientific thinking was on habitable moons in the mid-70s, but it was a great choice by George Lucas.

I know barely anything about space, but yet somehow these videos just captivate me in a way I can’t describe.

Incredible job, Sea.

I took a fat nap bc of your voice, woke up the most rested I’ve been in a while, and rewound the video to watch it properly, learning about ways to discover moons I’d never thought about. You are the multitool of youtube videos.

Also, I’m dying at the Hubble telescope part.

“Mom says it’s my turn to use the orbiting telescope”
