Sha-La-La(Make Me Happy) - Al Green - 1974

By the time Sha-La-La(Make Me Happy), hit #1 on the Cash Box chart, week ending 11/23/74, it started to sound like Al Green was settling in on cruise control. The chart successes kept on coming but a little complacency started creeping into the winning formula. From 1974 through 1976, Green started drifting toward gospel as his true calling while his secular success started to flatten out a bit. Sha-La-La(Makes Me Happy), while still a good record, just gave us a hint of the change of heart on the horizon.
