As Paleoclimatologist named Jack Hall (Dennis Quaid) was in Antartica, he discovers that a huge ice sheet has been sheared off. But what he did not know is that this event would trigger a massive climate shift that would effect the world population. Meanwhile, his son, Sam (Jake Gyllenhaal) was with friends in New York to attend an event. There they discover that it has been raining non-stop for the past 3 weeks, and after a series of weather related disasters that occurred over the world. Everybody soon realizes that the world is going to enter a new ice age, as the rest of the world population tries to evacuate to the warm climates of the south. Jack makes a daring attempt to rescue his son and his friends who are stuck in New York, who have to survive not only a massive wave, but freezing cold temperatures that could possibly kill them.

I know people criticised this movie for being scientifically inaccurate in some areas, but I absolutely loved it. It's a movie, not a documentary. I watched it to be entertained, not educated. I really enjoyed the story and I thought the movie was fantastic. 11/10 from me!! :)

While it definitely isn't a perfect movie, it is one of the best natural disaster films out there. They tried and put heart and soul into this film, unlike 2012.

Wow, scientists just did a study and found that the AMOC is greatly weakening and could collapse anywhere from 2025 to 2095, it’s scary to think how prophetic this movie could be

It's so boring for me at 8pm in my place, I thought of watching a movie I searched for long time and I found this masterpiece.
At first I thought it's movie from long back I thought it will be bad but after watching it I feel sry for thinking like that.

I saw this movie when it came out. At that time, the manager of The Weather Channel, with her PhD. in climate science stated that the only distortion of the plot - in order to have a very dramatic blockbuster - is the time frame. In the movie, this disaster happens over one weekend, which is impossible. However, the Weather boss (sorry I can't remember her name) stated that it could happen in 10-15 years, which brings us right about up to now. do take this seriously! We are just about at a true tipping point beyond which there will be no solution.
