How to check your meter:
To verify if your meter is ready:
• Enter 1844 6744 0738 4377 2416 on your meter keypad
• If it shows 1 or 1.2, your meter still needs to be recoded
• If it shows 2 or 2.2, your meter is already updated and requires no further action

Background:
In South Africa, the rollout of our electricity meters is advancing to the second revision, KRN 2. With the deadline approaching on the 24th, many citizens are understandably concerned about the possibility of losing electricity if they do not take the necessary action. This video has been created to guide my fellow South Africans through the essential steps they should follow before the deadline arrives.

Nyamezela ~ Press red button and hold until display dots, then type 005 enter.

Types of Errors and meanings:
1. Conn-_FAIL or E07 (Keypad error): Indicates a communication issue between the keypad and the meter. Plug the keypad into the nearest electrical outlet, ensuring all switches (except the one for the plugged device) are off. Check and possibly replace the keypad's non-rechargeable batteries. Reset the meter by pressing the "i," blue, or "#" button. No technician assistance is needed for this error.
2. ConnEct (Connection wait error):The keypad is busy connecting to the meter. Wait up to 30 minutes for the connection to complete.
3. USED (Token used error): The entered token has already been used. Load a new token or purchase one.
4. OUEr_Por (Load error): The meter is overloaded with appliances. Turn off all appliances for 30 minutes to reset and consider reducing usage or upgrading your supply.
5. NOT_Act (Active error): The meter is not activated. Enter the token "55555" to activate it.
6. E01 (Initialization error): The meter has not been initialized. Enter the token "1275 4194 1448 6450 5970" to activate it.
7. Loct-oUT: The meter has locked out your token due to exceeding power supply limits. Wait for the message to clear and use fewer appliances.
8. Meter battery is low: Replace the batteries in your meter.
9. Technical problem: This message cannot be cleared; contact Eskom at 0860 Eskom for assistance.
10. CIU not paired to any meter: Enter your meter’s serial number on the keypad to pair the internal and external meters.
11. rEjEct (Invalid token): The token is invalid or unverified. This message cannot be cleared; contact Eskom at 08600 eskom for support.
