We lost our dog to a Mass Cell Tumor about 2 years ago now. Once the Tumor was identified she was scheduled for surgery to remove the (2) Tumors. Both of the Tumors were located on her back hip area. So according to the doctor they would have no problem having enough room to physically remove the Tumor. Short story is mid way thru the surgery things went terribly wrong and she died on the table. The Doctor could not explain why she should had died. He requested to allow them to do a postmortem on her. It was determined she had a 2" size Mass Cell Tumor in her abdominal area. This from what I understand became agitated and started to produce large amounts of antihistamines, and this is what killed her. It was none operable the doctor said and had she survived the surgery from the 2 tumors which were removed this Tumor would have killed her shortly. It would have mostly also been a painful death. So I guess this turned out of the best that she died pain free. Since then, 2 separate dogs in our extended family has come down with mass cell tumors. It is good to see another option to deal with the tumor than surgery is available and possibly more effective. My question to you is what kind of monies does it cost to treat a tumor with this kind of treatment?
