Christopher Columbus’ final official resting place revealed

Genetic testing has finally confirmed the official resting place of Christopher Columbus, and scientists who announced the discovery say they also now know his ethnic origin — although they aren’t revealing it yet.

The partial set of human remains housed in an elaborate catafalque at the Seville Cathedral in Spain are indeed those of the controversial explorer, forensic medical expert José Antonio Lorente said Thursday.

Lorente and other members of a team of scientists at the University of Granada identified the remains using samples taken from Columbus’s son, Fernando, and one of his brothers.

The DNA test confirmed he must have been a Sephardic Jew. He also only wrote in Spanish, and his birth in Genoa is in doubt. By the way, October 12 is a huge holiday in Spain and all Latin America celebrating Columbus and the Hispanic heritage in the continent, the new world which started in 1492. Italy has never celebrated the “discovery of America” because Columbus has nothing to do with Italy. Columbus embarked the day after the Jews were expelled from Spain.

I agree that people were much smaller in the past…Colonial Williamsburg restored all these tiny houses with tiny furniture. In all the European churches I visited, they displayed small coffins, some stacked on top of another, that contained the bodies of royalty.They also had pieces of bone from the Catholic saints. Again, I saw two gentlemen kind of hanging around their body parts. I see spirits everywhere I go, even Target, so not a big deal to me. Blessings to you doubters….
