why did you use countif ? If the selected column didnt have emplty cells can i use count?

so i am using this on a multiselect survey question.
and i want to find out the correlation/co-selections of a survey respondent... so i have used the same question attributes on rows and same on columns, in order to make a correlation matrix.
after correlation matrix, i have performed a test on the correlations coefficients, my question in here is what should be the n=? in here?
supposedly i had 12 options in that question (rows/columns), does my n = 12 ? Please clearify?

Great video, but wouldn't using a COUNTA function instead of COUNTIFS be more efficient?
