HOW TO STOP COMING OVER THE TOP (Fix It Fast)

In this tip, I teach you how to stop coming over the top. This is easy to fix if you understand why you're swinging this way. Once you understanding it, you can cure it pretty fast.

For most golfers, the over the top swing is their nemesis. No matter what they do they can't fix it. Well, it's really not that hard. Like, I said you just have to understand why you are doing it. In this tip I show you a way that you can understand it by twirling a headcover. Once you see it, you now see why which is half the battle.

Now you know why then it's time to top coming over the top. To do this, I need you to fix it manually. This means getting used to a completely different way to swing and how it looks visually. I suggest doing this at home daily in practice swings. With a week or so you will be used to it which will make it easier to do as you hit golf balls.

Now, you may actually have to over do this over the top fix. If you do you will swing too much from the inside causing pushes and push fades. This is okay because the goal is the fix the over the top swing. So if you see these shots don't worry. This is step one. All you need is more rotation to hit the ball straight.

So watch this tip and start doing this asap. Once you stop coming over the top you make more direct contact creating more distance and consistency.

You are swinging over the top because you are hitting with your arms. This is why little

Handicap 21. Shot 106 @Country Club on Sunday. Watched this video many times on Monday and practices. Played Club today and shot 86, best score this year. You know your stuff

Paul, you are the man!!
I'm 57 and have swing speed up to 122mph, shoot mid to high 80s. I have played slice and fade for over 40 years, watching my drives loose 30 yards++ from left to right off every fairway. I did learn to get it back to the middle over these years but tired of loosing distance.
This year I changed my shaft to stiff and bought M4 driver.
I remember watching your old videos before YouTube channels were around.
Along with your other videos about relaxing wrist and arms, your tip on hitting that tee 6" behind the ball worked for me at the range today the first time trying it.
That tip taught me the feeling of hitting ball over top on contact almost like putting top spin on tennis shot. It kind of taught me to swing inside to out.
My fade/slice is gone forever after range today. I hit extra bucket just to see if it was for real or not. I now have confidence to aim right side of fairway not left. I find it easier to swing full out but in relaxed way with the new swing.
I will tell all my golf buddies about your channel here.
Thank your Sir for this life changing tip and sharing all your other tips!!!!

I've been coming over the top for 30 years and have tried to correct it. I've improved some by thinking of swinging the club out to the right but I still have what I call a hitch at the top of my back-swing. Trying this at home gives me a better feel and I can't wait to try it hitting some balls this afternoon. Seems like a great drill

Paul, I've commented on here before and you're always so nice. My iron game is much stronger than my driver, but I've been practicing being behind the ball and doing my exercises nightly. I'm already feeling much more confident. I employed this last week while I was out playing 9 holes and on the tees where I did hit properly like this, my drives were straight and already going 40 yards further (not even at full strength). Thank you for all of your help, truly! You're an excellent instructor and a good man.

This is a great tip and I've seen you comment on this in the past. I actually gave this tip to a playing partner on the course today along with a recommendation to turn more fully through the entire swing and and he nailed it after three attempts and went from a push fade to a soft draw. These are great tips, thanks so much.

I think it was Bobby Jones who once said...
'Golf is an easy game to learn but takes a lifetime to master'..
I hope you're going to be around for a long time Paul... you're my number one go to man.. 🏌

This is a great tip and exactly what I am doing wrong. I usually have to aim my feet out to the right to stand a chance of making the fairway then spend a few days getting over the back pain. I first started playing around 3 years ago but just bought a random set of clubs, skipped the range and went straight onto the course playing and stopping at every clubhouse for beer. It's time to change

Amen! I battle over the top problems, I hit the ball to the left. When I push a shot to the right I know I didn’t go over the top! I am pleased when that happens!
