While people want to talk about the explosions reference in the album name, i think these guys have really expanded the soundscape of all those came before in a lot of ways. But isn't that the way it should be? A lot of times i feel that the post rock scene has reached a saturation point with similar sounding bands with similarly esoteric and wannabe names. Then, suddenly, some people come along and blow your mind, yet again. I have perhaps felt this way numerous times over the decades, and i've been surprised just as many times. That is the most beautiful thing about music. And i can only wish for better things to come in the future, from both musicians and listeners alike. It's great to be alive.

This is such beauty... that I am left in awe... It touches my strings and as they play a song of melancholy and beauty yet grateful for an opulent discovery this very day. It is with love that I say "thank you Balmorhea" <3

I've listened to this album a bunch over the past few months - thank you to the uploader! This morning the banjo opening notes in Remembrance just got to me and I immediately purchased the album on Amazon. Ah! So good.

so i have a few things to say about this album. first and foremost, its clear and fluent language it so speaks through the strings of each instrument played makes me question why this band is not on the charts. second, this band may have came across my birth certificate, because the last song is not only the best, but it marks the date of my birth!!! well.. at least the month and day. hehe
third this album is obviously telling a story I am having the hardest time comprehending. but otherwise, this will remain as my most loved album. this composer deserves five rewards.

10:28 Fucking scared the shit out of me. Was not expecting a heart attack from Balmorhea of all artists.

YES! Finally some ambient music which does not involve more distortion pedals and synths than actual instruments!

If someone want to hear musics of the same style i recommend Tin Hat Trio, they're brilliants!

I found this album through a Jim Hopper from ‘Stranger Things’ fan video, and it’s honestly the best discovery I’ve made since I Am Kloot’s ‘Sky At Night’.
