My little sister keeps a record of funny things my dad says, and one of our favorites is when we were watching a Red Sox game and my dad, the engineer who was in the military for 27 years and has a Master's degree, very calmly and with full seriousness, announced, "If they don't win this game, they lose."

He later explained what he MEANT was "if they don't win this game, they aren't going to make it to the World Series, so this is their last chance to win before they drop out of the running entirely" but the phrasing was so perfect 😂
