Thanks for the walking tours. Japans version on countryside, to us in the US is small town suburbs. Countryside we have no neighbors that close, usually have to drive to out neighbors.
Your Kyoto suburbs look like Urban areas bcz suburbs here, houses don't touch, and have front and back yards with streets wide enough for parking on the streets in front of our houses.

What I love about Japan during my holiday over there is the tranquility along the residential areas (not commercial areas) and also the food and vending machine. Every ting has high quality, bother lives and food.
