Its because they are great. I am magyar. I live 60km from the border of Hrvatska. We always travel to Dalmacija with the family every summer. We love it. I consider it my second home. I go there since i was a little child. I try to use the langauge in shops and restaurant. I think they are very similar to us. I know my Croatian cousins very well, I grew up with a lot of them in western Sydney. They have this unbelievable love and pride for Croatia, the rest is Genetic. Heck even in the Australian soccer team, there has always been Croatian Aussies!

You forgot to mention great Alen Bokšić, the guy that led Croatia to 2 WC: 1998 and 2002 - and never had a chance to be a part of it (that FIRST golden generation) due to his injuries. He was a prototype of nowadays modern striker, great pace, stamina and chips, great club career...sadly he haven't got a real chance to shine in Croatian national squad alongside Davor Šuker during the first Croatian Golden Generation '96 and '98 because he we was injury prone. Croatian football squad needs so badly someone like him - that guy was something really special.

I think croatian players are still underrated and big european clubs should buy more young croatian players like they buy players from some other countries . They are not more talented but they give much more money for them. If Gvardiol was brazilian, french, english or spanish, the money wouldn't be a problem.
