People don't seem to get Death. He catches everyone, I need to repeat this EVERYONE! There is not a body that he didn't cause. He isn't a metaphor or an embodiment or any other fancy representation.

Death itself was sick of Puss in Boots' shit and went to humble him or take that final life himself. Death normally doesn't take his job too personally, but Puss was so brazen over his previous lives that Death manifested itself before him just to enjoy the process this last time and relish in Puss's fear. What we see in the movie isn't the peak of what Death can do by a long shot, he's toying with Puss.

It's also clearly stated that Death would have certainly killed Puss at the end of the movie. But since Puss had shown him respect and courage in the face of oblivion Death wouldn't enjoy the fight anymore, so Death left as he was given what he was due.

Kai on the other hand would gladly disrespect Death meaning Death would absolutely enjoy taking him out.

The fact of the matter is that he is the concept of Death, so he beats like 95% of Fiction.

Edit: The dude is a Concept, not an actual being. Dude most likely isnt even a wolf. He mostly like became what Puss's greatest fear was( Noone is truly fearless). Not only that, the dude is Omnipresence cause he always found Puss; the only reason why Puss escaped is because Death loves the chase. Death comes to everyone at some point even if you are immortal( not physically death but moreso in a state of oblivion).

Also there is more to fiction than just Anime, Games, Manga and Comics as I'm seeing in my replies. You have Fairy Tales, Fables, Fantasies, Horrors, etc. So I'm still sticking with Death soloing 95% of Fiction. In the end this is my opinion.
