Ever thought about making the switch to a different camp brand/pattern??? We did and so we made a video explaining how to better transition when going from Sitka to First Lite. We go over sizing and comparisons of what clothing is what and how it fits. This will give you a great start if you are looking for more info on the First lite pieces.

I started with FL. Limited sizes. Sizes not being consistent from garment to garment made me try Sitka. I haven’t looked back. Sitka has a more variety of sizes that are consistent from garment to garment and I was surprised how much warmer they were compared to comparable FL gear. I still have my FL glove liners, balaclava and a couple of thermal base layers.

Love my First Lite stuff! I had the same issue with sizing. Once hunting expos start back up id highly recommend going to one if First Lite is there. Literally try on every piece and take notes of the sizes you wear. I wear mediums in all the base layer merinos but a small in all the outers. I just got both of the new Foundry pants and I’m super impressed with the updates they made.

I hunt with and use both everyday. I absolutely think these are the top 2 by far. On that note, sitka is still superior imo. First lite has better base layers, sitka has better outer wear and definitely better camo patterns as well as rain gear. First lite needs to up their game and add wind stopper to the lineup if they want to be on that level

Enjoy the swap! First Lite has really upped their game and surpassed Sitka in almost everyway. Really love the useful camo patterns as well.

The furnace QZ just hits different. Arguably my favorite piece they make

First Lite’s merino stuff wears out very quickly especially if you wear a pack. Any rub areas will develop holes quickly. Abrasion from brush will start the fibers to pull apart as well.

Great review guys!! Nice comparison between the two. We do a lot of field hunting so need durable and light.

Can you tell me why you switched? I am in the process of upgrading my gear and have realized that there is more to this than meets the eye. Thanks!

Love the Meateater show and all the do for conservation, I have Steve's cook books, and have learned a lot about hunting and being a sportsman, ya I live vicariously through Steve, who would love to do what he does. BUT, I'll pay my mortgage before I buy astoundingly expensive clothing that has the word meateater or first lite written on them. I'm sure they are good products, but there are products out there that are just as nice, and you can still feed your family. If you want to spend that kind of money go ahead. I'm going on a hunting and fishing trip with the money I saved buying other products.

@9:15 “…super impressed…we can’t wait to get in woods and try it out”, “make the switch you won’t be disappointed”….”this stuff is good stuff! How do they know if they have yet to even try it out in the woods?!? Can you truly give an unbiased opinion on gear you have yet to try out in the woods?!?. Your right this video don’t exist because most people try it out before making a video and giving an honest and TRUE opinion!

So how is the outerwear on noise? Especially when you lean up against a tree and then lean off of it.

I agree on sizes im a large in some and meduim in others had to send pants back to exchange. But I own both, after you get sizes right stika is better!

180 and 6'1" and wearing medium is wild. I'm right between you 2 at 175 5'9" and I'm typically a large but now I'm guessing I'm gonna have to go medium.

I still think sitka is the best. You can't beat their duck hunting gear. Best stuff ever.
