Very instructive, good variation to learn!

Actually a disadvantage for me that you show this… I've been playing this with black for over 25 years and have had great success with it. Hopefully not too many people are looking at this and from now on I see a lot less 3.

My old chess teacher (NM) used to keep beating me with the Pirc defense, and when I begged him to play something else as black, he played this and beat me with it.

Ah yes, my favourite O'Kelly, also known as Accelerated Najdorf.

Wow. I tried this line out, not have even played the Sicilian before, and I got the exact line and the exact same blunder from my opponent. Thanks man!

I'm guilty of having the same problem with this opening playing black. I'll be studying your video. Reading the comments, there seem to be so many "grandmasters" out there that want to advise you, but they should put out their own videos themselves.

Love this channel! Regarding 3rd moves for white, d4 is worse for white than Nc3 and c3. The move c4 gives white the best chance by creating a Maroczy Bind from my experience. Your channel has the most variety of chess content that I’ve seen so far. Great teaching tool!

Just used a6 after c6 for the first time and trapped their bishop, and went on to win a very easy game against someone 100 points higher than the highest elo I've been 👍👍👍👍👍 subscribed

Really interesting variation, thank you !

I found this variation after learning the Najdorf Sicilian where a6 is played later; I was always annoyed by Bowdler Attack and Nyezhmetdinov-Rossolimo Attack, so I started playing a6 earlier, which let to this variation, great to see you covered it already. :)

Thank you a lot!

I always learn something (often, several somethings!) from your videos. Now, if I could only get my age-addled brain to retain half of it, I'd be all set! 🤭
Great video, Nelson!!

Could this be reached after a transposition from the French Defense? I think so but not sure.

Really liked this opening video Nelson. I like to play aggressively with white and play positions where I can create attacking opportunities with many pieces on the board. Would love if you made videos of aggressive openings like the fried liver attack. Keep up the good work.

Taking notes here. a6 is something I have not played and on the white side, d4 is so natural and I have myself played it, not even knowing its not good. I will definitely look more into this.

Agreed and same problem here playing as black. Very useful opening indeed, thanks for making one on this one! Lol.

Isn't this line bad because it allows white to go for Maroczy Bind? I always play 3. c4 here and my opponents usually suffocate for the lack of space. I mean it's playable for black but I always prefer white in these kind of positions.
