Why does everyone complain about paddle shifters, saying they aren't a drivers car? Isn't a driver's car whatever makes the driver happy? Yes, there's less user input but as long as the owner has a smile on their face, isn't that all that matters?

Its so unfortunate especially now adays that good old manuals are really getting pushed out. I mean the new paddle systems are crazy good but it will never be the same.

Of all the V10 cars there are (R8, Viper, LFA) the Gallardo is actually fastest on most tracks, thanks to its confidence-inspiring 4WD. The tendency to lift going around a corner to avoid oversteer is minimized. Yes the R8 is 4WD also, but it's quite slower in tight sections.
