I love Star Trek. I watched it every week. I was so sad when the series ended.

There were significant casting changes before the show aired, and I believe the success of this series is largely due to the final casting. Their interactive chemistry was incomparable.

I'm still with Mirror Universe Emperor Georgiou about those "stupid singing flowers" Spock was so enamored with!😮. 🤓😎✌🏻

Your last shot of the crew showed the blonde nurse (later the mother of counselor Troi in Next Generation) is the wife of the late creator of the series, Gene Rodenberry and the voice of all computer voicings in all future spinoffs.

My brother is a big fan. The original series is the best. That's not to say any of the later series aren't good. Quality does vary. Ditto for the movies. One book claimed that Lucille Ball originally thought the show was about an USO troupe in World War II. Whatever, her company did back it up. Desilu later merged with Paramount. That's one reason she ended The Lucy Show. Here's Lucy was done by a new company.

Uhura originally didn't have a first name either. Nichelle Nichols has told of wanting to quit the series. But a certain fan named Martin Luther King Jr. persuaded her to stay. He said it was the only TV series he let his children watch. Whoopi Goldberg was excited to see a black woman on TV who wasn't playing a maid.

Suppose time shifting had been available many years sooner. This is another example of a bad time slot doing some serious damage. Many young people weren't staying home on Friday nights to watch TV. Other shows had strong competitors. Too many got moved around the schedule. How can you watch a show when you're not sure when it comes on? But Star Trek is also an example of being a bigger hit in syndication. That's how we got the conventions, movies, new series, etc.
