Having driven a friend's up the Columbia Gorge on a lovely summer day, I have to say it was a very special experience and I completely understood why he bought it. If I didn't need a more reliable/modern car for hauling kids around, I'd have likely bought it from him instead of my Focus RS.

He bought it prior to retiring from Intel and he commuted in it every day in rain or snow. He freaked out some of the FerrariChat folks when he asked about better wiper blades because the original ones were junk in the snow. No one believed he drove the car in the snow, so he posted a picture of it. I think he found some better inserts at the local parts store, but his windshield has a small crack in it, so the wipers tend to lead short lives.

I mean sure, you can't change gears unless the steering wheel is completely straight because the silly gated shifter clashes with the soft drivetrain mounts. Also I was driving it, hard, because the owner needed to get it through local emissions testing and the hope was that a long, spirited drive might get the things warm enough to pass the tests. It didn't, so an ECU rebuild was needed at a couple thousand dollars (I almost convinced him to convert to MegaSquirt as he is a racer/fabricator/former Intel Engineer, but his ill-health and my lack of time meant it likely wouldn't ever get finished). Even by the standards of the day, they aren't fast. They truly are about the experience and like was said, you either get it or you don't and that's ok.

The best part of that drive was pulling up to work at the end, in the bright red Ferrari, just as a young woman I was interested in was walking back into the office after lunch. Made for a great conversation in the hall later as I found out she was a car/motorcycle buff :)

I always preferred the more wedge shape of the 308 but now I’m leaning toward the 328. Easy to see how the 512 tr bumper was inspired from this car

Give me rhat interior over rhat in any other Ferrari post 355 anytime anyway . The 458., Ff2, ext wirh the manechino button and rest of the layout reminds me of a cheap portzble double deck radio/cassette player/recorder wirh "Superbass" sticker and other imagery printed og lf the sticker deco intended to instill the idea tat your 18 dollars did.
