An officer with the Miami-Dade County Police Department was shot on Monday night in Miami.

Don't know if you've ever watched the show The First 48, but this section of Miami was often the scene of their shows. Liberty City is a heavily gang controlled neighborhood. Sad that law abiding folks have to live like this.

I hope the cop makes a speedy recovery. Love how they always give a massive police presence AFTER the heat dies down or it's not dangerous anymore. And they stay for hours just standing around gossiping and gawking and not useful to those who are actually working the scene. They're huddled around, like they don't have phones, a radio or internet to let them know any updates. In the meantime, we wonder when we call for help sitting on the phone with a 911 operator and it takes them forever to get to you.
