On the vibecession: The traditional economic measures are largely divorced from the economic well-being of the average person. Sure, they tell you what how well companies are doing, but those gains have not translated all that well to workers. It's more than inflation. Largely stagnant wages are not keeping up with the cost of living.

Additionally, companies have started to act like we're in a recession, too. Layoffs, reduced investment, and consolidating whatever gains they can make. Where does that leave people: stagnant wages, a high cost of living, and a really slowed down job market.

All I have to say on the economy is that I've gotten a promotion and nearly doubled my pay since 2020, still drive the same car, live in the same apartment, buy the same groceries, and after 4 years I'm further away from owning a house then I was back then.

Recent history of democracies in the UK, US, India, Turkey, Brazil, Phillipines etc etc have taught us never to under-estimate the stupidity of the general public who can be easily led into voting against the people and the country's best interests.

I don't think Americans are misinformed about the economy, because Real GDP hasn't grown since 2008. All the statistics about growth only pertains to the money that a small group of speculators on Wall Street are printing; for the average American, material living standards continue to decline.

Yeah, the U.S. is doing great...for the corporations and the powerful elites. Meanwhile the vast majority of the work force is further away from affordable housing while having to pay more rent than ever before, still working multiple jobs to survive and not having social programs like in Europe.
