I do hvac service and install. That's a $14 start/run capacitor. I've seen 20yr old capacitors on old units. This guy works in the sales dept trying to get you to buy a plasma pure

Yeah, gonna have to call this one out. I replaced a run cap in one of my AC units last year and it cost me $8 for the part and 15 minutes to replace it with the only tool needed being a screwdriver to get the back panel open. I understand that you have a business to run but anyone who's charging more than 15 times a part's value before labor is flat out taking advantage of people.

What this guy said is a problem here goes another idiot let loose on the internet. Yes it is a run cap. No it won't last 1-5 years. It can last almost indefinitely but usually they only last a few years, the quality of the power is the main factor. Caps only cost about 5-10 bucks not 150. If any company tries to charge you more than $100 to replace a capacitor tell them no thank you. Also it doesn't cause a phase shift what the f*** even is a phase shift? Think of a capacitor just like a battery except a capacitor only hold the charge when power is applied to it and releases all or some of its charge extremely quickly
