Algebra I on Khan Academy: Algebra is the language through which we describe patterns. Think of it as a shorthand, of sorts. As opposed to having to do something over and over again, algebra gives you a simple way to express that repetitive process. It's also seen as a "gatekeeper" subject. Once you achieve an understanding of algebra, the higher-level math subjects become accessible to you. Without it, it's impossible to move forward. It's used by people with lots of different jobs, like carpentry, engineering, and fashion design. In these tutorials, we'll cover a lot of ground. Some of the topics include linear equations, linear inequalities, linear functions, systems of equations, factoring expressions, quadratic expressions, exponents, functions, and ratios.

About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.

For free. For everyone. Forever. #YouCanLearnAnything

I cant describe how much the guy in this video has saved my life. he explains things in the least complicated way possible. the different colors for the variables are perfect for understanding whats in the equation relative to the physical slope on the graph.

Another way to look at it is y - y1 = m (x - x1)

Thanks for the very clear explanation. I am a semi-retired music teacher, and I am trying to learn/relearn math I haven't had in many decades. Your videos are very well-done, and very helpful.

OH. MY. G*D! IT TOOK ME 1.5 WEEKS OF WATCHING SO MANY VIDEOS. Watching this alone couldn't get my brain around it I think it was just too many subjects at once for me. THEN FINALLY a combo of a virtual worksheet and it explained to me how I did it wrong again... and well rested brain... THEN watching this video again... and I'm like.... lol I made it more complicated then it should be of been. Thank you for making these videos!!! Without them I would be so lost in class. But now! I have a 96% average <3!!! I hope you go up to grade 12 lol!!! Gonna need all the help I can get!

My teacher teaching me:
Teacher: You failed the test :)
Me: You failed to teach me

Khan Academy teaching me:
Teacher: You passed! Keep asking questions to improve your self!
Me: I'll pass, we have a thing called Khan Academy.

its hard learning math when you don't know the names of the formula things like im trying to find the one where you get y on on side but i thought it was called point slope but it was actually called slope int...

Your videos are very helpful! I honestly don't know why there are so many hate comments on the software. You're explaining everything perfectly and there are people complaining about COLORS. It's not very distracting at all, it just helps separate everything in order. I used to look at Kahn Academy and not like it at all, if im going to be honest. I think it might have just been my annoyance to get the math over with that I didn't actually concentrate on what the videos were actually saying. The only reason you don't understand is because you're rushing or you're not willing to learn (personal experience) But what im trying to say is that your videos helped me so much over the years. Thank you.

My teacher's formula(idk if thats what u call it) for the point slope form is y-y¹=m(x-x¹) but its just the same for how you solve it
