As a truck driver and slightly bigger guy I wear a lot of Henley shirts, usually with Wranglers and a set of heavy duty suspenders. I get many compliments.

In 1995 I bought 2 Diesel jackets, one 'ordinary' leather, the other suède.
I've been wearing them every year since and meanwhile they got a bit of that vintage look, but they always got me compliments, up until today.
Investing in some high quality, timeless pieces is worth the money.

I bought a Lone Pine suede jacket about 20 yrs ago, and it still looks awesome (and Overland still sells them). US-made, quality item. None of my other jackets made it for that long, and typically last 3-5 yrs. So in terms of price per wear that one great item though initially expensive ended up much cheap in the long run. And I'm still getting compliments on it.

After decades of wearing graphic Tees like I'm still in highschool, a month ago I decided to try buying just a pack of white Tees and I'm pretty sold on it. I'll try black or red Tees next

I've had a lot of different builds, (230lbs fat to 180lbs muscular to a thin 145 lbs) I have to say Henleys, T-shirts, bright colors and any tucked-in shirt is harder for a chubbier guy to pull off. Great advice on jackets, though 👌One of the best pieces for a chunky dude. Untucked, button-down shirts always worked well on me. Be careful with the length, though. Done properly, it can add the illusion of length to the torso, but too long, and it'll make your legs look shorter. And be careful about the rise in your pants. That can make legs look stumpy too. A hoodie can add thickness to the upper torso, making a taper toward the waist. Yes, I was terribly self-conscious when I was heavier. Darker colors, NO wrinkles, crisp lines, and NAIL THE FIT👍

A tip that I would add to this, is to go through your current wardrobe and get rid of old tired stuff that isn't doing you any favours. Massive psychological boost.

For me it's definitely leather jackets & dark colors. I technically have a pair of work boots I keep clean for going out in black leather. When I was younger I went with a grey color, now that I'm older full on black. I even get compliments from both sides. I also have my fair share of suits. Men if you are going to own a suit, learn to do a tie. If you get a malfunction that requires you to redo the tie that's your time to shine.

A Henley can also be worn as an undershirt if it’s very cold. In Peaky Blinders Arthur, Thomas, And John wear it under their dress shirt

My favorite jacket is an od green M65 jacket. It’s not fancy, but I really like the color and it keeps me warm.
