I used to work for the retailer Comet who partnered with Monster cables. We were told to flog £60 hdmi cables even with £100 portable tvs and basically rip the customer off. Monster training used to be utterly awful and they basically lied to us except I would always argue the fact about digital signals etc and I eventually got taken off any training to do with cables.

The first time i met a guy from Monster who came over from America he actually had no clue about UK scart standards and was pushing svideo as the ultimate standard other than component. When i told him that tvs support rgb via scart he rubbised me and got angry that i was questioning him. He later backtracked but i didnt get an apology.
Comet lost the trust of the consumer and is now history.

Amazon basic HDMI 2.0b cable's are very good for the price, I got two 3m cables for £8 a in march, Don't let any retailer sales assistant tell you that you need a "monster" or some other high end brand cable to get better picture quality because it won't happen there is a reason why a HDMI is a standard in the first place,

If you are upgrading cables then get the 2.1. It can be bought for less than $10 for 3' cable. Be prepared for whats next . The 2.1 handles up to 10k and 48 gbps. Its a no brainer.

Good advice. Whathifi still spout utter nonsense when it comes to expensive HDMI cables. It’s incredible the language they use 😂😂

Why not just make one that does all of it rather one million that do some of it?

I recently purchased a 65" LG 4K TV that says Native Refresh Rate 120hz and Motion Technology TruMotion 240. It does HDR 10, Dolby Vision and all that good stuff.

I purchased 4K 2.0 cable from a discount store. Not sure exactly if it does 60hz, HDR 10 or anything as its just in simple box with basic details. So of course of plug it into anything I have and each one I plug it into the movie or tv show i'm trying to watch looks terrible with many tiny dots all over the place and sometimes watching a movie you can see jagged edges right when someone is walking. I played around with some visual settings but can't seem to fix it.

Is it really the hdmi 2.0 cable I have doing this?

I know your video is from 2017 but i'm sure nothing major has changed since then.

Still look forward in hearing back from you.

Trying to get a $200 HDMI replaced by Monster under their cable for life warranty, fun times.

The spec doesn't matter unless you are going over 15', after that a significant number of 18Gbps cables WILL fail with a true 4K HDR rig. At that point the $100 monster cable rated for 27Gbps actually has value.

Not all HDMI cables are created equal.

Signal is digital, just buy the cheapest one.
There's no 1.4, 2.0 or 2.1 hdmi cables, they are all the same, same number of pins and copper wires.
