Look like jascar EV gold frets. Those are actually copper alloy that looks like gold. Halfway between stainless and nickel in hardness, Nice frets. I have them on my signature Brian May guitar.

i remember when they did a massive sale on supremes for the same price as a standard, I regret not buying one that time

I love how you are consistent with your demo riffs. I can generally tell what your going to play. You’ve gotten better that is for sure. You’re more confident with your playing these days.

I've got a 2007 that I bought for myself for my 50th birthday. Love it only take it out on special occasions. Plug into my Fender 64 Deluxe Reverb and it sounds so sweet.

Those pickups, push-pull knobs, with coil splitting, etc. sound great. The guitar is gorgeous. I hope it finds its way into the hands of a Player. 😎

IMO, that was one of if not the best sounding guitars you’ve reviewed in a long time

Not usually a fan of trans black finishes but that one looks gorgeous. Anyone else think those pups were a big upgrade over the 490's? (& I usually like the 490's but they sounded great to me)

You can definitely hear that hot bridge pickup driving the amp a lot more than the neck!

Great video Trogly! The frets on the early year LP Supremes are not coated in gold. They are Jescar 55090-EVO Gold alloy frets. Jescar remove the nickel element from their frets that create a harder fret, smoother feel, and - gold appearance. Not sure when they switched to coated frets. Mine is 2007 and has original frets and ebony fretboard.

Also- the 490R/498T pickups are a really weird choice for this guitar. I put Lollar Low Wind Imperials along with Emerson 50’s wiring kit in my 2007 LP Supreme. Those changes transformed it into something I will never sell.

I have a half dozen Les Paul and Sg Supremes. They have the best tops of any and all regular production shop guitars. And most times the backs on LP Supremes are even nicer than the fronts.

Seeing your show brought me back to my days in GC warehouse… i recall getting a picture with a fender shop signature Clapton Blackie during my time… I’m not a guitar tech but i can play.. i play bass a bit. But I definitely want to say thanks! These vids have made me want to get a sixer again. Love this stuff. And guitar geeks. Thanks again!

Those pups sounded really nice. I personally really dislike the globe on the headstock.. this finish is absolutely beautiful.

Splicing the leads seems way harder than just fishing the controls into the cavity, which isn't really that hard. Also doing that means damaging the set of pickups you're taking out. It's not a good idea.

I saw Lucas Nelson playing a J 200 Supreme On Austin City Limits. Beautiful guitar, had a signature on the sound board but couldn't make it out.

Wow! The mods are definitely improvements on this guitar! It sounds much MUCH better than factory.

I personally think the mods are all reasonable and only make the guitar better -> the new pickups sound really good!

Frets are gold colored all the way through, they are not plated.
If they were plated you'd never be able to level and dress the frets!
Trust me, the fret wire has a higher ratio of Brass in its makeup which gives the appearance of a gold tint.

Hey man, trans black is a winner every time in my book 🤷 looks nice with some flame or quilt, keeps it low key... just tasteful all arround to be honest.

Greetings and well wishes from Utah!

In my opinion, a "tap", is better than a full "split", because it sounds better. PRS has been doing this for years. I used to own a '79 335 that had a coil split toggle switch on the treble side horn, and the full split, sounded like crap.
