I’m not the target audience for this video but I am thrilled to see women preaching this message. I have had ignorance spewed at me even from men who see me lifting in the gym. These myths need to be debunked for the benefit of all. Thank you for making this video!

I'm so glad that you did this video, all of us ladies need to be informed about weight lifting. I'm one who wasn't sure if I wanted to do weight training because I didn't want to build big muscles because I'm already a big bone girl. Now that I've started strength training my upper body is much stronger.... I can finally do push ups!!!

Thank you, this is ideal for people with EDs and body dismorphia, I struggle to keep going sometimes because my body out of nowhere feels too big, but logic helps with those intrusive thoughts.

I love the emphasis that muscle does not weigh more than fat. 1 lb = 1 lb. Yes! Thank you!!! 🙂

I'll add that weightlifting for women perhaps more important for women because after menopause bone density often becomes an issue way more than for men. I'd also add that muscle is denser than fat, so you may stay the same weight and convert fat into muscle ( recomping.) While a scale reading may not change, you're size measurements will almost assuredly decrease.

Thank you for this video! This helped me so much. I was feeling unsure about my body lately because I felt a bit bulky and my clothes don’t fit anymore. I was thinking that reducing the weights in the gym was the solution. However now I realized I can keep lifting the weights (it makes so much fun!) and should be focusing on a low fat diet instead to reduce my body fat percentage and look slimmer!

I got off birth control and continued my lifting schedule and nutrition. I got very very bulky over 6 months’ time. It’s been really hard to lean out because I feel really tired if I don’t eat enough. This doesn’t seem to be a frequent issue with females and I wish there was more info out there.

This is great! Love seeing woman targeted strength advice. How about one talking about how hormones and aging effects our workouts? Does where we are in our cycle affect what type of workout is best? I’ve heard that the 5 days before not to workout to strenuous, more likely to have bad form and injury and during ovulation week is when we have super strength to increase weights that week if trying to build muscle.

This is such good advice. Thank you. There’s always this voice in the back of my head like “you’re going to look like a butch if you lift heavy.”

I started my workout routine 7 months ago and I had gotten super out of shape. I hadn’t really worked out in 2.5yrs. I’ve been increasing my weights, calculating my macros and eating a calorie deficit (except cheat days). I love weight lifting. This is the first time in my life I’ve focused on weights. It’s so exciting to see how building strength has made everyday life easier. That being said I’m trying to tone — lose 10% body fat (I want to be 18%-20%) and maybe 10lbs…drop a jean size if possible. Can I continue to increase weights and reach my goals since I’m eating a calorie deficit? I’m also doing a paleo & modified keto diet

Strength over bulk, would be a great topic, when I was younger 65 years old, My daughters boy friend who was quick bulky came and wanted to work out with me, He had way more bulk than me, and around one and a half times my weight and arm size. We went to my work out room where I had 180 lb on the bench I did 12 reps and he tried and me and my daughter had to lift the weight of him as he could not even complete three reps. I have also seen where women could out do man in pull ups doing them all properly where the man could not even keep up doing sloppy one. I feel that women should be going for strength.

I have been training hard, and now my upper body has become too muscular. My arms, in particular, have gotten bigger than I intended, and I would like them to be slimmer but still well-defined. Currently, I am in a calorie deficit. Should I just use less weight for my upper body workouts to achieve this?
