In this video I'm going to show you one simple trick for how to grow more tomatoes in a small space. Over the last two years I've grown 30 tomato plants in a bed with only 30 square feet of growing space, yielding over 800 heirloom tomatoes.

Thank you Brian. I actually ordered your hooks a few years ago when you first resourced them out. I just never had the structure to hang them on. My husband is 75 and I am still planting my tomatoes in a 15 gallon bucket behind our garage. This year I think I can use your hooks and hang them and then move them down on the top rung of the panel. At least I’m going to try. Last year I grew mostly determinate tomatoes and 1 Sungold which I used two tomato cages to support it. I am excited and very thankful that 74 I can still garden and grow some of our veggies and lots of Flowers. We actually just won Yard of the month and I thought they made a mistake at first. I have been battling weeds so bad, but my flower beds have rocks in them and I have barrels and containers with most of the flowers in them. You have taught this old Mimaw a lot and I thank you. God bless.❤️✝️🍅

Brian, I absolutely love your trellis and have learned so much from you. I grow all of my tomatoes in containers, specifically 5 gal buckets. Last year amazing harvest, but tangled mess of vines. So I’m doing your method this year, with modifications. I lined up my buckets in two rows. For every set of 5, I put a Tpost on the end, spaced in the center. I put 1 1/2” black pvc pipe over the tpost. Glued an elbow at each top and joined each end with another black pvc pipe. I am using (🤞) zip ties on the top horizontal pvc to hang the hooks from. So far, so good! And looks pretty good too. I’m in a harsh winter zone where wood doesn’t last long. I’ll be able to remove, store and preserve my supports for years to come. Thank you for the inspiration!!

I learned how to do this from Spring Hill Farms, a Canadian YT channel. She illustrated this method in her greenhouse where she grows tons of tomatoes and cucumbers professionally. It gives a great visual for those who are still having a hard time visualizing.

I use clips to do the same but it takes more effort to lower them. An addition to this is to carefully trench the dirt under the vines now laying on the dirt and slightly bury them as you lower the fruiting end. If you plan carefully you can zig-zag this burial so all plants in the line are in the same trench back and forth. The buried stem will root and the more roots, the better and roots closer to the fruiting end is best.

Yes I was worried and thinking about when the tomato plants get to the top. My plants are 1/2 way up the strings, already 🤓

I am so happy I ordered my hooks back in February! I just set them up yesterday. I cannot wait to try it and I am doing it with 2 zucchini too!

Tomahooks are available on the web too. This works great for cucumbers, also works for peppers, eggplants, zucchini, squash, etc...

Would love to hear you talk about indeterminate cherry tomatoes (which are what I currently have planted). How do they differ in care and pruning needs?

Congrats on having this come together finally! Been using a similar style with the roller type for the third year now.

I had the best tomato production ever after burying my seedlings deeper, whilst others in my area were pulling their plants out to avoid wasting water. Many Thanks to Brian for teaching me.

I just watched the video of your request for prayers. Then I watched today's video. I'm very glad you lived through it and very glad you're alive to talk about it. This tells me clearly that the work God is doing in you and through you is not finished yet! You're making a HUGE impact on me and the NEXT LEVEL GARDENERS worldwide. I must be honest about one thing I just bit into my first cucumber of the year! The Bitterness was so Bad that my wife and I ate a Bag of Kettle Jalapeno Chips to get rid of the bitterness. I messed up on water and fertilizer Yuk. Thank you for Blessing my Life.

Hi Bryan,
Just saw the video: got my hooks early, BTW. I just finished putting in the last of my 40 plants and will trialing your method this year. Another first-I'm 54 years old and grew up working in the small (1/4 acre) family garden in Fort Worth, Texas. I had never grew tomatoes or onions from seed. Now I live in South San Francisco, California. It's freezing in the morning, it's freezing after dark, and you might have an afternoon at 60-65 degrees, assuming the marine layer doesn't roll in. The moral of the story is that I wear a coat in the middle of summer ( not really). The great thing is that those tiny little seeds don't scare the hell out of me any longer. Seriously, I thought I knew a lot about gardening, taught down through my great grandfather and grandfather; however, I've learned so much this year, largely through your awesome videos. Thanks for all the education,
Don
