Hey Laurel, love your videos. In 2024 I read 54 books and my top 6 were:
6-"House of Earth and Blood" by SJM (not the series but this specific book)
5-"Heartless Hunter" by Kristen Ciccarelli
4-"One Dark Window" the series was amazing by Rachel Gillig
3-The Cruel Prince (the whole series, loved it)
2-Spark of Everflame by Penn Cole (the whole series absolute perfection)
1-Weyward by Emilia Hart a standalone that was brilliant ❤️

I can totally relate to when you read something you don't like you just kind of get put off reading 😂 Sometimes I dnf something and I'm like ok I just need a break for a while. Some people think that Colleen Hoover didn't write Verity and that she hired a ghostwriter because like you said it's not like her other stuff, she usually writes romance. I lowkey subscribe to that theory 😂 Also, I've never heard anyone talk about the Frame Up! I haven't read it yet but I bought it because there was a dog on the cover 😂 Now I'm going to put it off even longer lol

You forgot the part in shatter me where Warner pass from psycho to « omg I have feelings for him » because he helped a DOG … like girl where are your standards at 😭😭 hated that series above and beyond whatsoever. Glad you share the feeling 🥳

As someone who just recently read The Folk of Air series I have to say that as much as I’m head over heels for Cardan I’m not sure how I felt abt the series. I mean, the characters were amazing but unfortunately I’m not sure the plot was my thing. I was told by booktube that it was a romance so that’s what I was expecting and in my opinion, it’s not and the romance is a subplot. I did hear you say that you enjoy a romance subplot and not main plot but when going into a book I need romance to either be the main plot or not really a plot at all. So anyway, ignoring my opinion about that series I have to say I very much appreciate your faster talking so I’m not bored af, and that you’re also unhinged but not over the top. Overall I really enjoyed this video❤️

I read 200 a year and I also was very sociable this year. Those two can happen at once. I work full time and go out regularly. Shading people for “not having lives” for the amount of books they read can be seen as ableist btw!

A lot of people who say 200 n so on normally count the audible books they listen to and if I did that I’d have over 356 a year bc I can listen to one to two books a day. But I don’t count them only bc I’m listening and not reading but others do count them so idk
