In this video, Strymon Sound Designer Pete Celi takes you on a tour of Compadre's features and functions.

=======================

Your Dream Tone Starts Here.

Start your signal chain with the best possible version of your guitar tone. Treat your guitar signal to true studio quality analog compression with two distinct voices for smooth transparency or vintage squeeze. Hit the Boost switch to add clean boost or soft-clipped dirty boost, with the EQ curve of your choice. Mix in some dry signal for natural attack even with extreme compression settings. Feel the perfectly tailored dynamic response, feeding your amp and effects just what they need to sound their best.

Bring out your amp’s character in ways you never thought possible. Compadre’s Class A JFET input circuit, studio quality analog compression, and musically voiced analog boost circuits all work together to make your amp sound like it was just modified by a world-class boutique amp designer.

Connect an expression pedal to add premium VCA-based volume control. Add an optional MiniSwitch or MultiSwitch Plus to store and recall your favorite settings. Integrate Compadre into a MIDI pedalboard using our MIDI EXP Cable and access up to 300 preset locations.

I actually love pete's guitar playing. Theres something really sincere about it, with great value for each note. Great tone, too, obviously.

"Compression is something that's more easily felt than heard"

Best compression explanation on YouTube.

Got the Compadre yesterday, and combined with Flint and Iridium I have never sounded better. With the more discrete studio compression settings the Compadre brings out the best in my playing without really taking anything away. Probably an always on pedal for me.

I find this man does a fantastic job of explaining these pedals and the functions and he gets great tones from them as well. His video demo of the Strymon Deco is the very best one on youtube I think.

I swear my electronic IQ goes up every time I listen to his explanations of the inner workings of his pedal designs.

Analog signal path, full midi control, and an expression volume pedal? This is your best product yet! Cannot wait to try it out!

Hi Pete! I hope everyone is ok out there. I'm quarantined with all my Strymons and I'm still working on the amazing Iridium. Congratulations on your new exquisite device!

You had me at digitally-controlled analogue compression, with 300 MIDI-selectable presets (EDIT: oh, and the blend control).
I love how thorough you guys are with your pedal designs, and I’m sure this pedal will be no different to your others with how flexible it is in a MIDI setup. Plus I’m sure it will sound amazing!

Great two pedals in one! The boost portion with eq options are great. With the slight overdrive! It rocks.

hey great video man. I'm looking for a run down of the presets built in available via midi with this pedal. would you know where to find that? This is the main reason why I wanna buy this pedal. having access to presets that i can remotely control via MIDI. thanks a lot

The only issue for me is that I like my compression at the beginning of the pedal chain and the boost at the end for gigs (remember when there were gigs?). You've added some nice added features over the OB1. I like the two compression settings and the dry blend, which has been a big trend in pedal compressors the last several years and for good reason - you get the attack back! Thanks for the video.

Great design, and nice to see you rotating the Les Paul with another very cool guitar.

Looks like a great pedal! Great demo as always thank you. You guys should do a loop switcher pedal. Line selector meets swiss things meets strymon👍🤘 😀.

I was flipping through an old 2005 Guitar Player back issue that featured the Line 6 Variax on the cover as the feature story. Pete was involved in this and it was funny to see a pic of him much younger and with hair!
