Sharevari by Yuri Suzuki

Swarovski returns to Art Central (March 21–25) in Hong Kong as Official Partner for the third year running, presenting an acoustic and interactive installation "Sharevari" by Yuri Suzuki, winner of the 2016 Swarovski Designers of the Future Award. Presented at the main entrance to the fair, "Sharevari" is a mechanical crystallophone which Suzuki created to explore crystal as an acoustic material. The instrument consists of 16 brass mechanical structures or "notes", each one featuring a handmade crystal form ranging from 95-250mm in diameter and representing tones from c1 to d3. When brass hammers hit the crystal, the vibrations are translated into beautiful, pure sound.
