100 feet to Collision | MSFS

A FedEx cargo plane, a Boeing 767, was forced to abort its landing after a Southwest Airlines flight was cleared to depart on the same runway. The pilot of the FedEx airplane discontinued the landing and initiated a climb out. The air traffic controller likely could not see either of the two planes, but was relying on both pilot reports and airport surface detection technology to track the planes. He said the near-collision was “exacerbated” by reduced visibility, which can be caused by dense fog or an unusually narrower gap between the ground and clouds.

It’s not a near miss, it’s a near hit!!

glad everyone stayed calm and a possible disaster was avoided

Nice simulation and attempt to make it so real was worth the likes

it's cool that we live in a time where a simulation of the event can be made easily and available for free to the public. Can't imagine the conversation with traffic control after this

At least the FedEx pilots are better composed than the delivery drivers.

This actually happened. A few seconds later the ATC apologized to both crews and thankt them for their profesionalism!

I hope ATC was held responsible. This could have been so bad.

If this is real then Boeing is not the only one with issues. Traffic control can join them

These close call landings and taking off near misses have got to stop!

Tower told Southwest the landing heavy was 3 miles, should never had cleared takeoff, especially with heavy wingtip turbulence spacing, then told Southwest, turn right when able. Thank SW pilot for saying negative. Controller 100% at fault

It has to be real I saw it on the internet.

Southwest pilot should have called out "Negative. TCAS" instead of just the "Negative" to ATC. These planes are equipped with TCAS (traffic alert and collision avoidance systems) and once they are activated, the directions given by the system override ALL ATC commands, always.

I was watching this on a small screen besides working and didn't register that it's animated. With every second of the video my amount of "Oh No"s increased. I guess if you attempted this for real, the 737 would struggle massively with wake turbulence.
