Why would people need to “tone-down” their hair because a bunch of teenagers decided it’s apparently “cheugey” (it’s a cringey word fo start with) in the name of what trends? Fashion? It’s crazy to see how things go in and out of style lately, when will people understand it’s purely to pressure us to consume more and more and feel out of touch with the rest if we don’t follow those so called trends?? If you like your hair whatever color or texture, you should never feel the need to tone it down to accommodate anything or anyone.

People who follow trends always look back at pictures of themselves from a decade or two ago and cringe. Just do what works with your genetics- that never goes out of style.

Agreed that when extensions are too full at the bottom and don’t match the density of your natural hair, it can look unbalanced and cheugy, but I disagree that thick, dense ends are “over”! It’s a classic and enduring look if you have healthy natural hair, similar to your comment on the sleek bob. It’s all about the balance and proportions.

I wonder if the change in blonde tone trends evolved with the pandemic. It was harder in the last two years to keep up with a full-foil bright blonde. A more muted, lived in blonde makes more sense for low maintenance hair.

I don’t mind talking trends with cuts and color, especially being in the beauty industry, but for a generation to call shots on what’s out? Love your blonde?, then LOVE it and keep loving it. It corners a whole population into a “not cool”, or whatever word they created, category. Sylvia, we’ll done as always on maintaining the balance of trend and you-do-you advice. 💜

I like how we are calling it mushroom color now. Growing up my hair was “dishwater” and that made me want to bleach or dye it immediately.

I was reading about blonde being out - it’s happened before post disaster/war. Beauty trends tone down to match the tone of the country. “Recession roots” have inspired going for a slightly darker, more maintainable color like people needed during the pandemic because they couldn’t get their usual services.
Personally I hopped on the copper shag trend last year! Love it so much, it woke up my hair and added so much wave back into it. I just got a blonde face frame on the copper and I’m it!

If I was a blonde, this would make me want to amp up my blonde more than ever. If it's not "trendy" to be a bright blonde, I suggest doing the most. 😉

I feel like these are never inclusive to those of us with naturally curly hair. There’s a whole community of people that you’re not reaching.

I don't mean to be rude but....you described your exact haircut/hair color on trends that are over (ie: extensions). Ok, maybe I misunderstood.

Trends are just a commercial marketing ploy. If everything comes back in style at some point, that means nothing ever actually goes out of style. Just be yourself, you’re not a trend 😂

You look gorgeous and healthy Sylvia!!!💛🤎💛🤎💛🤎
The benefit of being a “mature lady” like myself is you get to a certain age and you stop caring about what’s in or out. Ha! I think I’ll be keeping my bright blonde hair. If I didn’t have grays I might consider darkening up but I do so looks like I’ll be out of style for 2022. 🤷‍♀️🤣😂👍

Im upping my blonde but only because it suits me best. The mushroom makes my skin look meh, so it‘s all about what is best. So some beauties can really do that gorgeous Mushroom I love it.

I'm really not around a lot of people because of my physical condition so this is how I find out about the current trends. Thank you so much

I really like the dimension of your current color and it suits you. When it comes to hairstyling trends, I've learned to accept that most trends won't work with my hair since it has natural curl. My mother had the opposite problem: straight hair that wouldn't hold curl. She'd pay to get salon perms while I'd straighten my hair with a round brush and hairdryer every day before school. She used to say that she wished she had my hair and I wished she did too!
