Congratulations on the Poliwrath and Charizard. My very first packed ever had a base set Charizard.
It is such a great memory for me. I was just a kid (40 now) and I was in the Collin Creek Mall with my grandparents shopping with them and in one of the stores I saw Pokemon for the first time ever! I spotted the base set booster box display and just thought wow look at those creatures on a card box. I asked my grandparents if I could have a pack and so they bought me a few. My grandparents have always been my world, couldn't hope to meet nicer people. I opened the packs and got Charizard and was just blown away because it was a dragon, who doesn't love a dragon looking creature. Then I pulled Blastoise. I thought Blastoise was pretty awesome w his guns popping out of his shell. Kept the all these years and just got them graded a month ago. Blastoise came back a PSA 7 but my Charizard came back PSA 9. I really didn't care abt the grades, I just wanted those 2 cards sealed and preserved permanently for my my forever collection because they have so much sentimental value to me. The Collin Creek Mall has been demolished so I can't go back there and reminisce. But at least I have my cards to remind me of that day with my grandparents. My grandfather is 92 years old now and grandmother is 85. I showed them the graded cards and reminded them of that day with them in the mall. I showed them that I had them graded the cards enclosing them forever to show them that I appreciated them and everything they have done for me. It was really cool sitting and talking w them seeing them check out those cards. Those will forever be sealed in my safe no matter what.
Best of luck and hope to see you soon at the Dallas Collectacon in a week. Not sure I'll be able to make it. Have 4 kids and a wife that also collect now so funds are always tight lol! Loved seeing you pull that Charizard, it took me back to that day in the mall with my grandparents! ❤
