Serial Killer Documentary: Efren Saldivar (Hospital Executioner)

Angel of Death in the garb of a respiratory therapist murdered 40-50 patients. There was talk around the hospital about the night shift and the "magic syringe." A few workers had their suspicions. When staff members are alone with patients and no one else is around, they're free to do as they please. Were these "mercy killings" — trying to painlessly end the lives of dying patients? No, this was a man who liked to play God and decide when someone should die.

I am glad you finally said Respiratory Therapist instead of technician. As a Registered Respiratory Therapist for 43 years, I have watched the struggle have to be recognized as medical professionals who spend almost as much time at the bedside as the nurses do. We have been called oxygen people, inhalation techs, treatment jockeys. Having said that, I am sorry one RRT has caused so much pain.

Man, I really don't like the whole "angel of death" thing that invariably comes up as soon as a killer works in some care related field. I find it coming uncomfortably close to romanticizing the callous act of murdering defenceless people. They're not "angels" (of death or otherwise) they are small horrid people with no conscience.

It amazes me how the hospital changed protocol that should have been part of their regulations to begin with. Also, insane that they ignored other workers complaints about him when so many ppl had died suspiciously

I spent years im nursing homes trying walk again. The VAST majority of employees dont care. Very few are actual medically trained. They are just under paid bottom tier of the employee marketplace. Sadly it also draws quite a few sociopaths and control freaks. I Saw many many die by sheer negligence and when i began to speak out and document these events they immediately kicked me out and onto the streets while still in a wheel chair

My stepdads mom (who was not a very nice person anyway) was one of those pain in the butt patients. We used to tell her she needed to stop being so rude and demanding. She acted like a know it all and treated nurses and doctors poorly. You can tell they were always happy to see her go. Can't say I wasn't either... oops 😬
