In 1973 the newly formed OSE was supplied with 13 diesel locomotives made by General Electric type UM10b with Bo 'Bo' de axle arrangement and 950 HP power from the Caterpillar D398B engine, thanks to which they became better known as Caterpillar. GE got the number A 221 - A 233.

They set off on local commercial trains, passenger posts and suburban routes on the lines of Larissa, Stylida, Chalkida and more rarely in Serres and western Macedonia.Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, GE / Caterpillar continued to operate relatively reliably, albeit towards the end with several stops. With the arrival of ADtranz and the new MAN DMU the GE withdrew from passenger trains and was used on local freight trains mainly in Attica. Now only the A223 is functional and is used by OSE.

In the 48 years of their operation, this was the first time that this locomotive travelled to Thrace, transporting 9 ballast-wagons from the engine room of Volos that had been repaired, to Alexandroupolis.

On the video you can see the travel to Thrace and the second part of the return trip from Drama to Thessaloniki.

Ωραία δουλειά, αν και πρέπει να ομολογήσω ότι έβαλα το βίντεο να παίζει στο 1.5 ταχύτητα...
