That only works with very specific types of crab legs which have to cooked to the exact right doneness

Interesting! Notice tho that he clips the end of the leg with a scissor to make a hole big enough to tap the crab meat out. So you do need some sort of tool and as someone else said, the crab meat has to be cooked properly so it doesn’t stick to the inside of the shell.

You can also bend the joints back, this pulls the tendons out. Then you can gently break them in half and pull the shell off like the cap to a tube of lipstick.

As a Marylander I had those crusher things too tbh. Just snap white side. White side is the soft side. Joint trick is cool but not always useful. As for that tap truck that’s cool.
