First airbag was a driver airbag,
Second one was a passenger one which explains the difference in size. The passenger space has more room for a bigger airbag so they put in a bigger one for more safety :)

I will never forget the time I was in a car crash, passenger side. I still remember watching the airbag in a kind of faschinated way as it slowly, slowly unfolded in front of me. I remember each part of it unfold crystal clear and all way slower than in this video (when they'd slowed it down). It's strange how the mind slow down things when something like this happens.

Unbelievable strange feeling anyway. Seeing it unfold slowly and when almost fully unfolded I got the thought "I'm kinda tired and it looks comfy" so I placed my head slowly on the airbag.

Reality would show me slamming my head into the airbag by the pure force of the impact with the car in front of me, but the mind is fun that way...

That second airbag is larger because it is the front passenger airbag, which not only serves as a pillow but more of a wall. It's much easier to fill up the passenger side because obviously there is no steering wheel there. It takes a much larger airbag to be able to fill up the front passenger's space for that reason, and because there is generally a greater distance between the passenger and the dashboard than the driver and the steering wheel.

Most people don't realise this but airbags are actually designed to begin deflating just before your face hits them, because if you hit them when fully inflated, it would break most of the bones in your face.
