Oh there is NOTHING quite like a Martin. My dream guitar.

Did this to mine. After sanding the saddle. The sound of the guitar also changed. It was not like before so I bought new saddle and stayed with high action like brandnew before.

Unfortunately, now the "break angle" is too low across the saddle. Will definitely affect volume and sustain.

I mean it'll do, I'd just let the customer know that it'll be neck reset time next go round.

Careful with the oil, I’ve noticed over the years that clients who tell me that they oil or condition their fretboards at home are way more likely to have fret level problems - and often times it will be an issue for more than one of their guitars. Guessing maybe the owners are just overdoing it in terms of frequency or the amount of oil used, but that’s just a guess, I’m not really sure about the physics behind the effect.

These days I use probably 10% of the amount of oil per fretboard compared to what I used to. For newer, well humidified guitars I’ll often just skip it. Sometimes you have to, like in this case the tech deep cleaned the board first with a cleaning agent. Most cleaners are degreasers, so cleaning it would have removed some of the natural oils on the surface. It makes sense to oil or condition the board in a situation like that. I just would have used a lot less of it.

1-Is it necessary to lower the string height on all acoustic guitars?
2-What should be the optimum string height at the first fret and at the 12th fret?
3-Is it true that when calibrating the guitar, that is to say, the height of the strings, filing the bone or maybe adjusting the rail or the nut, it is necessary to check it for at least 2 days so that the wood rests and gets used to the tension that is being given?

Ok what I see is too much oil on that board😅 I mean you are not supposed to soak it in oil, especially when it's a newer guitar like that, I think the saddle is quite low now which might be fine, but you definitely loose some vibration transfer when playing this low on an acoustic, most people want an acoustic to feel like their electric guitar but that's just not possible and doesn't make sense🤘🏻

So you dropped the bridge. How much tone/toned volume did it lose? Did the sound move back toward it. Did you replace the bridge or use same one. If you replaced it, is there a particular brand your prefer? (Sorry about all the questions, but that's what I need to know.

Maybe it’s the camera angle but that sanded bridge saddle looks mighty low.

Should you go to truss rod first?Rather than after sanding the saddle? I’m new to this

Stretching the strings' when you stretch the wound strings it causes the diameter of the strings to be smaller.... nut slots are bigger than the strings causing rattling. also the strings will sit lower in the nut causing fret buzz.

Are you concerned that the break angle on the bridge is low?

As long as my action is around 2.28mm on the bass side like it says on the card so between 2.25mm and 2.5mm im happy, that action seems kind of low for all the material you removed from the saddle unless the customer specifically stated the number he wants his action at.

Just get a neck reset, there’s no saddle left….
