Aiden Pearce in AC Universe is no coincidence. After the death of Subject 17/ Desmond, The Order of Templars thru Abstergo enhanced their grip with both Abstergo Entertainment (Assassin's Creed Black Flag) and Blume (Watchdogs) to influence the masses.
Now in this scenario, Pearce might not be an assassin as he's known to be the lone wolf in the game; but killing the very own Abstergo CEO while he was on business trip at Chicago may have just brought interesting prompt that Initiates might have reach out to him and be a part of Assassin's Brotherhood by the time of this current universe.

A theory for sure, but having Pearce repeatedly brought up is no Easter Egg.

Honestly Aiden should've been portrayed like this in the first game. A mysterious no-faced vigilante. He was portrayed as *SUCH* a badass in his cameo in WD2 as well as in Origins.
