Hot Guitars Out Of The Box (out of The Hot Rats Sessions Box!)

WARNING: THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL ALBUM, but the content is from an official album. This is a selection / extrapolation of the guitar parts from The Hot Rats Sessions box. I assembled this compilation to listen non-stop to the guitar Frank played during those sessions. I worked a lot cutting and sewing, removing parts of other musical instruments, trying to combine the various fragments and the various takes in a fluid way.
This is from my own private collection. I assembled it for my personal listening and I share it for CULTURAL and EDUCATIONAL purposes to promote the artist (Frank Zappa).
I do not own the rights to this material, I use it only for promotional-cultural use. I believe this compilation is a great commercial for the box set. I am not financially (or otherwise) involved in selling The Hot Rats Sessions, but I hope this selection is an incentive for the undecided to buy the whole box, which is a casket of jewels (6 disc box set!). If, however, those who own the rights to these songs deem it inappropriate the presence of this video on You Tube, they can block it.

Just thank you!!! Zappa Fans are rare nowadays... In my eyes, this is the very best music and very best musician/COMPOSER ever!!! Love to all Zappa fans!!

That’s why Zappa concerts were two hours or more. You got to see Frank, tongue in cheek satirist, Frank the instrumentalist that is all picks and pedals, tearing it up. And finally Frank the innovator, always coming up with something different. Worth the price for a ticket every time. Gone but in no way forgotten.

... I am a fossil from the 1950s ... and still passionately into FZ's music, saw him live 2 times ...

Zappa has left behind him such an array of music for us, it's just guy lived to play music.

I had a chance to meet Frank in Moscow in Stas Namin's music centre back in 1989. We talked for awhile about music and he shook my hand and gave me a hug. He acted like a down to earth guy without that big star bullshit. It was an unforgettable experience! Great man!

Completely bloody marvelous; I recall when I bought "Freak Out" my parents thought I was nuts, later on my kids did too. I am just so very glad to have been alive during the whole of Frank Zappa's musical life. Saw The Mothers live in Manchester UK, it was Flo and Eddie on shared vocals, I think Ainsley Dunbar on drums. Lastly, I went to live in LA and to actually tread some of the spots FZ had written about. Thank you very much for this.

I saw Frank in '72 at Gannon College. He showed up with a bass player and two drummers. He played exactly one guitar riff, about 3 seconds, and spent the remainder of the "show" fooling with a rubber chicken. He did "sing" a bit too.

🙀 Frank was a true Artist. He was a brilliant guitarist, a superb composer, a matchless bandleader, a movie producer, a record company executive, a human rights activist and an incomparable social satirist. He was a prolific workaholic who left behind a staggering body of work. His subsequent solo work encompassed everything from jazz-rock to orchestral pieces, always delivered with Zappa's trademark humor. He has been acclaimed as a genius for his versatility, and although genius is an overused word in music, it applies to Zappa in spades. Thank you for continuing to keep Franks legacy very much Alive .... BTW, great compilation here ~ thank you for sharing!

Do you personally think that you are underrated as a guitarist ?
" I think that I shouldn't be rated as a guitarist. I think that rating a guitarist is a stupid hobby. I am a composer, willing to take chances with a composition, live on stage, in front of an audience and just go out there and have the nerve, the ultimate audacity, to not know what I'm going to play and try something new, and we will have an adventure together. There is no way to rate that."
" Without deviation (from the norm), progress is not possible." - FZ

Saw Zappa in Miami 81. He sat on a bar stool that night very chill and just played. Was blown away at how good he really was. Thanks FZ for the experience.

I have listened to the first 27 minutes of this well over 100 times the past month or so. I cannot get it out of my head.

A musical savior! I had reverted back to listening to thunder over ocean waves 10 hour loops I had given up on ALL music / music burnout and now this fell into my universe like a neutron star going 💥

Seit ich 14 bin höre ich zappa. Jetzt bin ich 67 und höre ihn immer noch. Hot rats. Vermutlich viele hunderte male. Das was du hier mit deiner arbeit »out of the box« gemacht hast ist wirkich großartig. Grüße von österreich. Nicht von australien. Sondern von österreich, wo mozart war. :))

Me and my 14yr old daughter played Willie the Pimp, after my brother in law suggested listening to some Frank Zappa...I am now hooked! In the words of my 14yr old "that gnarly guitar song" has become a favorite jam!
