The Halo 2 theme from Steve Vai is my favorite use of a sustainer.

The amount of things you can do! And the expression you can get from it❤!

That used to be called an E-Bow, and it was invented by one of the members of 10CC in the late'70s.

Dude! You just sent me back to the 90s! I remember every Guitar Player mag had an ad for these things... so nostalgic.

Robert Fripp has one in his gold top tokai for all the Frippatronics he does. Sounds divine.

Guthrie Govans solo on Steven Wilson's Drive Home is my favourite application of this thing.

This was the secret to Peter Steeles bass sound. When they make one for bass the Type O Negative cover bands will inherently improve.

Guthrie Govan played the solo on Steven Wilson's Drive Home on a sustainiac guitar, apparently

Oooh, so pretty! For a split second I thought you were about to break into Purple Rain...and then you went full theremin lol

Being able to simulate guitar feedback like that at low volume would be revolutionary for those of us who only get to play in a flat and don't want to piss off neighbours.

Phil Collen from Def Leppard has had this in his guitar for decades. I think what is in his is called the Hard Driver.

It’s nice to see attempts at innovation again

Sustainiacs are extremely cool to play with. They’re best known for their use by Matt Bellamy (how I discovered them), Steve Vai, Synyster Gates and many more. Almost all my guitars have one in them

Matt Bellamy has a sustaniac on his MB series, with a built in harmoniser which sounds INSANE!

You can actually build this yourself by replacing the pickup rods with a higher magnetic permeability material and connecting the windings to an alternating current source, with a frequency that is digitally modulated to be an integer division of the frequency picked up by the other pickup. We did this for fun at my university, very fun!

Edit: if digital modulation isn't your thing, you can use a frequency divider and power amplifier to feed part of the pickup output back into the sustaniac to drive it, now you've built an oscillator, cool!

I love it! Learned it thru looking up the Firth of Fifth guitar solo, Steve Hackett uses it, sounds perfect, a held note for almost 8 seconds and ends up with a bend.

Old news. Love to hear you play something unique with it.
