Good advice, right now I have some black nutrient rich black sand mixed lightly with white gravel, not too much but enough to add variety to its appearance so it isn’t all black sand. Gravel alone definitely isn’t the way to go I’ve learned.

I use half soul half compost. I had a worm wriggling round for the first 3 months. Three years later the tank is still like a jungle.

Can you put 2in soil and 1in sand cap? For a 55 gallon tank? I’m wanting to not use any filter or air stone. Want to stock a lot plants 🌱 to oxygen in my water 💦! Is there such a thing as too much???

I have a compost pile and warm bin do you thing a mix of the worm castings and compost would work I haven’t had my compost tested but it is full of mold and bacteria the microscope slides I took looked really good

Im confused, in other videos you said that we can take any dirt. This video is in more details. So what kind of dirt i can use? From my garden? From the shop? can i ruin everything with not correct dirt? And about sand? Can i go to the shop and buy sand for kids to play?or go to the beach?
Im just starting my journey. Is it necessary to use supplements?

I just received some of your amazing soil but my question is don't I need to take out the gravel which is large maybe a quarter of 1/4 inch each piece put the soil on the bottom then sand or the gravel on top of the soil and then sand since I've had the tank I have never completely emptied it in almost 2 years. Please advise.
